DREAMING BLUE (2.35, Nap) is fancied to go two places better than last year when he takes on seven rivals in the Corrie Cup Chase at Ludlow. The seven-year-old, trained by Anthony Honeyball, faded late on in heavy ground in this last season when finishing third and warmed up for Wednesday’s contest with another third at Wincanton early last month. Always prominent, the son of Showcasing led at the 12th fence before being headed two out but kept on well enough to finish three and three-quarter lengths behind Paul Nicholls’ Beau Balko who franked the form by finishing second in a higher grade at Newbury on Saturday. With that run under his belt the gelding should strip fitter for Ludlow’s feature race.
Previously, my selection took full advantage of a reduced mark to win by 16 lengths at Fontwell in March and followed up back there three weeks later.
At Lingfield, MUMAYAZ (11.50, nb) can land the opener as trainer Tony Carroll pushes him significantly up in trip.
The son of Tamayuz has won three times this year and, last time out, was a decent fourth of 10 in a handicap on this track – but over five furlongs.
Mumayaz missed the break but finished strongly to be only three-quarters of adrift of winner Harb at the line.
He should be more suited to the seven-furlong trip of the Win 1M With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Handicap under Jack Doughty.
