Temperatures inside NASCAR cars can reach 140 degrees Fahrenheit at times, making them exceedingly hot. To combat the heat, some drivers wear cooling vests and suits, but famed driver Mark Martin used to utilize a chiller hose that was fastened to his seat.
Recently, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown nominated Martin for the Cracker of the Year Awards. In a post on X (previously Twitter), he provided an update on the same. Brown gives notable people humorous titles known as “cracker” awards, usually in a lighthearted and sarcastic way.
A person by the name of Chris George commented on Martin’s article, saying, “I heard somewhere that you utilized a ball chiller hose from the Naca duct. The car’s little hose inlet is not visible in the picture. The ideal moment to ask seems to be in a Viagra automobile post.
In response, Martin said, “I ran that hose from the A post to my balls.” Between my legs, it was fastened to the seat. Until I retired, I participated in this exact race. One of the best NASCAR drivers of all time is undoubtedly Mark Martin. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he has the second-most victories (49).
Martin never took home a Cup Series title, but he was very close to doing so on multiple times. He was referred to as the greatest driver to never win a NASCAR championship by Autoweek. Martin did, however, win five IROC Championships. Martin was listed as one of NASCAR’s Greatest 50 Drivers in 1998.
He received inductions into the esteemed NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2015. In 2013, Mark Martin announced his retirement from full-time racing. He currently manages a Ford business that he co-owns while living in Batesville, Arkansas.
Mark Martin subtly criticizes NextGen design. A picture of Tim Richmond’s brilliant red Pontiac was recently shared on X by a sentimental NASCAR fan. Mark Martin commented on the design and reposted the image. He didn’t specifically criticize NASCAR. Rather, he wrote, If the number was all up on the front tire, wouldn’t that look better? Martin probably preferred the previous design.
In the past, the automobile numbers were displayed directly on the door. However, as the sport developed, sponsors’ roles expanded rapidly, bringing the numbers closer to the tires.
A number of admirers entered the discussion, with some arguing in favor of the NextGen design and others supporting Martin. But none of those remarks were answered by Martin. The 65-year-old veteran of NASCAR is still quite busy running a number of enterprises in addition to his hometown Ford dealership.
In the meantime, NASCAR is preparing the NextGen vehicle for yet another exciting season. The season-opening race at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2, 2025, is anticipated to bring the on-track action back. Fans may tune in to MDN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio for live radio updates, or watch the race live on FOX starting at 8 p.m. ET.
