In what appears to be an exciting race, a strong lineup has been put together for the Strathalbyn Cup (2050m) this Sunday.
The 2025 Strathalbyn Cup speed map and runner preview, are shown below.
Preview of the 2025 Strathalbyn Cup Runner:
1. The JRA Plate/Lord Remins/Adelaide Cup path is being tested as a barrier trial through the Hasta La War. In contrast to this lot, he is a class stayer, but for me, the setup is there to indicate that he will require the run.
2. Wild Imagination: David Page’s use of Wild Imagination is currently at its peak. Her last two victories came in the Nhill Cup and the Koroit Cup, where she won handily. Most likely, it lands in front here and with front end control, she’ll take running down.
3. Hasta La Fiorente: New legs, racing down the track after Seeking Stardom on December 21 at Murray Bridge. Trip appears to be on the rise, and he is capable of being lethal at his best.
4. Midnight Mass: He hasn’t competed since Gawler on December 14, where he put up a strong effort over 2100m but ultimately lost to someone better. He’s the one for me; he’s had a little break, maps to stalk the speed, and rides with a senior rider.
5. Magnetic Edge: After finishing last Saturday at Murray Bridge behind the dominant Gotta Go Guru, he seems to be racing in his finest form of his career, and the 2000m should be alright. Trcky draws, yet he is respected, in my opinion.
6. Nasho: Arrogant won by a space and ran a nice time four weeks ago at Morphettville over 1800m. He led the entire race and gave no other contenders a chance. He will provide a stack of cheek because he is the most likely leader.
7. Stormsarrived: Although he is inconsistent, his best work is risky. Last time, he was strong over 1800m at Murray Bridge and performed well in the loss to Magnetic Edge. He might secure a first-four spot, but I’m not sure he wins.
8. Montepulciano: Returns to the 2000m after finishing narrowly behind Arugamama in the previous race over 2500m at Morphettville. I see going back on the trip as a good thing, and it’s a huge hope for me.
9. Fox Gem: He received a 12/10 ride from Nunes to win a low race at Murray Bridge last time but he is a horse with talent who will be strong late and has upside/scope unlike most here.
10. Rabtat: SCR
11. Sandastan: This country has a penchant for exotics. After finishing near last, he worked home strongly late in the piece behind Fox Gem, having been a huge price at Murray Bridge the previous time out. He plans to be effective late and not work during the run.
12. Tembu Boy: At Murray Bridge, just behind Fox Gem. Not to these.
13. Eight On The Dot: Doing well in the race and would have been advantageous in the other 2050m event. But I’m aiming high here.
14. Grinzinger Allee: He flies stealthily, and once he moves to Darwin or Alice Springs, I believe he will be someone to watch.
Speed Map for the 2025 Strathalbyn Cup
Two speed influences appear to be at play here. Nasho like rolling quickly, and it appears that this will be the case. I dare say that because of the heavy weight, they will choose to cover with Wild Imagination, the second horse. In the run, Midnight Mass maps to accomplish no work. Storms that arrive can also be useful.
