Georgia Amoore delivered a historic performance on Sunday, scoring a career-best 43 points to lead Kentucky to a 96-85 victory over No. 13 Oklahoma. The senior guard’s electrifying display not only secured the win but also tied the program’s record for most points in a single game. Amoore’s offensive explosion came on an efficient 15-of-22 shooting, including 7-of-12 from beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. She also contributed eight assists and one rebound in 39 minutes, solidifying her status as one of the nation’s top players.
Her 43-point outing matched the Kentucky record previously set by Jennifer O’Neill, who scored 43 against Baylor on Dec. 6, 2013, and Rhyne Howard, who achieved the feat against Alabama on Jan. 9, 2020. Amoore’s performance marked the first time a Kentucky player had reached the 40-point threshold since Howard’s game against Alabama five years ago. In fact, it was only the seventh time in the program’s history that a player had reached 40 points in a single game.
Now standing at 19-2 overall and 8-1 in SEC play, the Wildcats relied heavily on Amoore’s offensive firepower. She wasted no time making her presence felt, opening the game with a series of early three-pointers that set the tone for the contest. Her ability to create her own shot and convert difficult attempts kept Oklahoma’s defense under constant pressure.
In addition to her scoring, Amoore’s playmaking ability was on full display as she dished out eight assists, ensuring her teammates remained active in the offense and keeping Kentucky’s rhythm intact. Whether pulling up from deep, finishing at the rim, or facilitating for her teammates, she was the driving force behind Kentucky’s offensive success.
Despite Oklahoma’s efforts to stay competitive, Amoore consistently had an answer. Each time the Sooners mounted a comeback, she responded with clutch baskets and key plays to keep Kentucky in control. Her composure and efficiency down the stretch ensured the Wildcats maintained their grip on the game.
Sunday’s performance will be remembered as one of the greatest individual efforts in Kentucky basketball history, further cementing Amoore’s place among the SEC’s elite players. As the Wildcats continue their dominant conference run, they will look to build on the momentum from Amoore’s record-tying performance as they push toward postseason success.
