Kyle Busch’s Heel Turn Fizzles Out as NASCAR Community Makes a Surprising Shift

Feb 26, 2025 #Kyle Busch, #Kyle Larson

The most successful driver currently competing in the Cup Series must be Kyle Busch. However, there was hardly any applause as he took all those checkered flags; instead, it was frequently jeered. Do you recall the race in Chicago in 2018? In order to take the checkered flag, he bumped Kyle Larson. There were only “boos” when he got out of the car to celebrate. Busch also didn’t hesitate to speak up. “Don’t even watch if you don’t like that kind of racing,” he retorted. It’s also no secret that Busch receives a lot of hate. or used to obtain it previously, at the very least. In recent years, things have changed. He was shocked by the latest Truck race!

Spire Motorsports’ #7 vehicle was driven by Kyle Busch, who drove it to victory lane. There were actually applause when he got out of the car. Busch talked out about the strange feeling of this changeover. “I like noise,” he said. The sound is pleasant. Another person once claimed that noise is a wonderful thing. It’s awesome. I thought, “Wait what?” as soon as I got out of the truck. It felt fantastic to win a truck race, I thought. It’s been a long time since I won anything. Since he switched from Chevy to Toyota, the switch has occurred, and the jeers from Chevy supporters have abruptly stopped. Additionally, it was his transition from a youthful, vivacious driver to one of sports’ greatest veterans, and a mentor to a fiery B-Rex.

There was also a lot of sympathy because he wasn’t winning as much. Take a look at the 2024 campaign. For the first time since making his NASCAR debut in 2004, Kyle Busch went without a victory. It ended the historic 19-season run. To continue the winning trend, even his detractors wanted him to win. And he nearly did, placing second in both Daytona and Darlington. And given what transpired at the Truck race, it is unclear whether or not he will experience the same outcome in the Cup Series if and when he wins a race. Additionally, the Cup crowd is difficult to please because they have been jeering for a while. The best illustration of this must be the the Bristol Dirt race in 2022.

The #18 vehicle was driven to victory lane by Rowdy. Jaimie Little of Fox Sports was anticipating the pit interview. When Busch started talking… A chorus of “Boos” was heard. “I mean, man, I feel like Dale Earnhardt Sr. right now,” he said, pausing his response to the question. This is fantastic. I did not take any action. You were either a Sr fan or you weren’t back then. Nothing in the center Busch is no different. But until the very end, “the Intimidator” remained “the Intimidator.” However, Rowdy’s supporters appear to have softened. But after making his debut, Busch believes he understands why he received so much vitriol.

Kyle Busch attributes all of the hostility to his brother.

The fact that Kurt and Kyle Busch don’t get along is well known. And the fact that Kyle holds him responsible for all of the jeering may be one of the causes. “I returned to NASCAR in the Xfinity Series to run a part-time schedule and I was in 87 Ditech car,” Kyle had stated in a previous interview, adding that Kurt wasn’t necessarily making the best of friends on the NASCAR level at that point. I was jeered out of the crowd during driver introductions for my first Xfinity Series race, and I thought, “What the heck? I didn’t do anything; it’s Kyle, not Kurt.” The stories of Kurt Busch’s violence are legendary.

Do you recall how angry Busch was when Bob Pockrass asked him a question regarding the race? To “beat the sh–” out of him, he even threatened. And there have been numerous incidents on and off the track, this being just one of them. This did not make Kurt Busch the most popular amongst the NASCAR community and when Kyle Busch came around, it was the same for him. But with him coming to RCR in 2023, Busch thinks Denny Hamlin took on his job. And for once, he enjoyed being on the opposite side. “I commend Denny for assuming the part, and it’s entertaining to observe it from a different perspective because I understood how to live it, and that’s what you just have to embrace, roll with it, and go with it, and take it on. You hate me because I’m a bada– and you’re just jealous.” He had added.
