With Christopher Bell becoming just the 19th driver in Cup Series history to win three consecutive races, the 2025 Cup Series championship has gotten off to an exciting start. The NASCAR Xfinity Series has also benefited by the first-ever appearance of all practices, qualifying sessions, and 33 series races in 2025, which has increased the series’ appeal. Now, NASCAR wants to bring both series to Canada for an international race in an effort to capitalize on their growing popularity.
From 2007 to 2012, when it was still known as the Nationwide series, the Xfinity Series competed in Montreal. A deal to have the series race around the Gilles Villeneuve track in 2026 as a prelude to the main event in 2027 is reportedly nearing completion, according to a report from the Quebec Journal. In addition to conducting a championship race in Mexico for the first time ever in 2025, the Cup Series has apparently been in discussions with Brazil about perhaps hosting a race there as well. The series is now scheduled to visit Montreal, and news on a 2027 Canadian Cup Series race is anticipated shortly.
