Josh Berry of Hendersonville was the star of Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Las Vegas event. Berry won the NASCAR Cup Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time in his career. “Vegas has been so good to me,” Berry said Jamie Little, a pit reporter for FOX Sports, following the victory. “I’ve experienced a lot of wonderful times here. simply had trouble in the NextGen vehicle. I received a fantastic car today from the entire 21 squad and everyone at Wood Brothers Racing.” Since Sterling Marlin’s victory at Darlington Raceway on March 17, 2002, Berry is the first NASCAR Cup Series winner from the Nashville region.
These are the NASCAR Las Vegas race winners and losers.
NASCAR Las Vegas race winners
Josh Berry
The NASCAR Las Vegas race on Sunday gave Josh Berry one of his greatest wins to date. On his 53rd start, it happened. Before the last pit break, he raced closely with Joey Logano before making a pass on Daniel Suarez late in the race. In just his second season, Berry will make his first appearance in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
Ryan Preece
Despite being quiet during the race on Sunday, Ryan Preece tied his career-best finish by placing third. He had previously placed third at Talladega in 2019. Preece had his first top five result at Las Vegas since finishing fourth at the Nashville Superspeedway race the previous year.
Chase Briscoe
Briscoe lost two laps in the race on Sunday after losing a wheel early on. Briscoe finished the day in 17th place after managing to get his car back to the lead lap after falling four laps behind at one stage.
NASCAR Las Vegas race losers, Kyle Busch
At Las Vegas, Busch too experienced a loose wheel, but there was also a problem with his brake line. After the rim was cut down, Busch’s right rear tire practically tore from the rim and flew off the vehicle. With 25 laps remaining, Busch managed to get back on the course but collided with the wall.
Ryan Blaney
Despite having to drop to the back after a practice crash on Saturday, Ryan Blaney had a solid run going. Before he was destroyed in a four-wide situation on lap 195, Blaney had a solid run going.
Daniel Suarez
After battling Josh Berry and Tyler Reddick late in the race, Daniel Suarez came very close to winning in Las Vegas. He even made contact with Berry while attempting to side draft. But in the last few laps of the race, Berry proved too powerful.
