At this year’s Cheltenham Festival, Constitution Hill shocked bettors by tripping for the first time in his career in the Champion Hurdle. After a long break, the equine whiz returned to his finest form as he easily defeated Lossiemouth in the Christmas Hurdle and swept to victory in the International Hurdle. In the latter race, a final-hurdle error almost cost him the race, and it was a poor sign for the Champion Hurdle, who crashed out in a race where Brighterdaysahead failed to fire and State Man tipped up at the last second when it was well clear. When he reopposed Lossiemouth a few weeks later, he collapsed out of the Aintree Hurdle, and the falls came along like London buses. The most recent Champion Hurdle for 2026 odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise everything you need to know about Constitution Hill’s next race is below.
The next race is Constitution Hill
On Friday, May 2, Constitution Hill will go across the Irish Sea to compete against State Man and Brighterdaysahead in the Boodles Champion Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival, potentially capping off a poor campaign. “He went out yesterday and he’s been out this morning, and he’s fresh, but we’re going to have to start making decisions shortly,” Nicky Henderson stated in a Monday interview. He will have one item of work to complete at some point this week, and that will decide whether or not we go. It’s really easy. We’ll know after Nico [de Boinville] rides on him once. If he is at 100%, he will go; if he is at 98%, he will not. That gallop is going to be crucial and everything hinges on that. He’s been cantering since, but we’ll see. I hope we’ll be able to go.”
