The final week of training camp for the Dallas Cowboys got off to a rocky start on Tuesday after a fire broke out at the team’s hotel in Oxnard, California. The Oxnard Fire Department was called to the team hotel just before 5:00 PM PT after a fire was reported in an unoccupied living room. The cowboys were not at the hotel at the time of the fire, as they were guarding the passage hundreds of yards away. Video from the scene shows smoke coming from one of the Residence Inn buildings where the group was staying.
All members of the organization escaped safely, according to a statement from the team. “This afternoon, there was a fire emergency in one of the team’s hotel rooms in Oxnard, California,” the Cowboys said in a statement. “There was an emergency in a room that was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported. The Dallas Cowboys would like to thank the Oxnard Fire Department and Oxnard Police for their quick response to the situation.”The fire occurred during the team’s final week in Oxnard. The Cowboys are scheduled to practice in California on Tuesday and another practice on Wednesday before returning to Dallas on Thursday. The Cowboys play their preseason finale against the Chargers on Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
