A MASSIVE South Lanarkshire racecourse which has produced around 1,000 winners in recent years has been put on the market for a hefty six-figure sum. Belstane Racecourse, located approximately one mile from Carluke, covers approximately 19 acres and includes Belstane Farm, staff accommodation with additional offices and reception, stables for 127 horses, indoor and outdoor riding areas and land suitable for grazing or mowing . Alistair Christie of Galbraith Estates, who are handling the sale, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a renowned equestrian business with excellent facilities and staff, as well as a charming farmhouse as the main residence.
“The location is also very convenient. Less than an hour from central Glasgow and a short distance from Edinburgh and the Central Belt. “This is Scotland’s most prestigious horse racing institution and we are delighted to have completed the sale.”The property, which is said to be priced from “over £750,000”, also has two indoor motor racing tracks. The 54 x 17.8 meter open space consists of a steel portal frame under a roof with concrete panel walls, sectional cladding and a concrete floor. The Belstan Delta site covers more than 13 acres and is rated 3(2) by the James Hutton Institute, Galbraith added. The site is surrounded by posts and barbed wire, and the interior is surrounded by a circular wooden fence and a sand path with two wooden shelters.
Property experts pointed out that the farm has “well appointed” accommodation with modern fittings and fixtures, including four bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and utility room, study, cloakroom and family bathroom. The staff accommodation is well appointed and is divided into two buildings, the south building containing two four-bed bedrooms, a shower room, office, toilet, storage, kitchen and room. The north wing has a similar layout and has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.
