Kevin Blake’s big race verdict: Tamfana can claim first Group 1 in Sun Chariot Stakes

Inspirational Superboost

Supermare Inspiral returns to action this afternoon to win the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes for the second year running at 2.40pm. Five-year-olds John and Teddy Gosden beat their rivals in the event 12 months ago and today Betfair Sportsbook increased their odds of a top three finish from 4/9 to 1/1. As the paper calendar turns to October, there is no escaping the harsh reality that the number of Group 1 races left in a flat season is dwindling. Stop cheering and relax, National Hunt enthusiasts!Although there are still a few weeks to go, the Group 1 action remains of a high standard and the most immediate race to tackle is Saturday’s Sun Chariot Stakes (2.40) at Newmarket. And how mysterious!

Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes speed card

As always, we start with the pace map, as how the race plays out will determine the outcome. Inspired supporters will be looking for a solid pace to help him settle, but I’m afraid they won’t be satisfied with this pace map as no clear leader can be found. Darnation (2) has won just one race in his career but looks best suited for a remarkable run. Elmalka (4) had a superb day as he persevered to win the 1,000 Guineas but stood out on several occasions, including his final run in the Nassau Stakes. Nashwa (3) has been made in a prominent career, including several times, but the compound may seem to be able to return patience and patience for a long time. Everything is composed of this competition and has all the opportunities to perform at a very confused speed.

Who are the main candidates?

As for the competitors, where better to start this race than Inspiral and Nashwa, the duo bred by John Gosden and Tady Gosden? With nine impressive Group 1 wins, she is one of the best fillies in Europe in recent years. However, both are 5 years old and come into this competition with a lot of different questions to answer as they bid for another Group 1 to add to their tally. Inspiral is the perfect mare. The unbeaten Group 1 winner has campaigned very bravely throughout his career, with eight of his last 10 coming against boys in Group 1 open company.

This brave effort in the toughest company resulted in a memorable victory at Deauville which renewed the Jacques le Marois prize for a second time. She entered only twice in Group 1 Mares Only in this series, winning both times, winning by a wide margin in last year’s renewal of this race and a memorable finish in the Filly & Mare Turf Breeders’ Cup I left a record of duration. But despite the good times, this season has been very good. A disappointing return to a stunning renewal in the Lockinge Stakes can be as forgivable as another subpar performance in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot. When he returned to familiar territory to win the Jacques le Marois for a third time at Deauville, he ran better to finish third behind Charyn, but still fell short of a remarkable best.

Inspiral has now returned to private practice to resume his distinguished career. But will he be strong enough to take advantage of his company’s decline? For me, Inspiral didn’t feel like a chick this season. John and Tady Gosden will do their best to bring him back. But even at best, the chances of a slow-paced mini-race would be slim, given his penchant for slow starts. I can’t risk it because of the price. Nashwa offers a different kind of mystery. He may not have as extensive a resume as his more famous stablemates, but it could be argued that Nashwa is just as talented as Inspiral.

He also performed at a high level against boys and carried out his duties extremely well, finishing second to Mostahdaf in the Juddmonte International Stakes last season and third in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown. The problem Nashwa brings is that we won’t see him until March this season at the Dubai Meydan Stadium. After using a lot of fuel to get ahead from a poor start, he crashed late in the race and ran below par. It wouldn’t have been hard to run under those circumstances, but the fact that I haven’t seen him since is a big concern. His connections pressed him to return to the track before the end of the last racing season and questions were raised whether he would be healthy enough to win at this level when he returned. . How strong or weak you are later in your sewing can be very beneficial.

I don’t know how Nashua is doing in the market, and the race not going according to plan, I guess I’ll have to ignore it because of the price.
