Kevin Harvick calls for a NASCAR Finals review that brings out big ideas.

Veteran NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick is calling for a venue change for the NASCAR Cup Series season finale. As the 2024 season winds down at Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway, the track that hosted the 2020 finale, Harvick is proposing a reversal of the championship races.

Harvick’s idea includes rotating the final race venue between Phoenix, Homestead-Miami Speedway and adding Las Vegas Motor Speedway to the mix. Harvick, who won the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship, is known not only for his prowess on the track, but also for his media responsibilities. Harvick explained the benefits of alternating championship positions on the “Happy Hour” podcast:“Hopefully one day we’ll start a championship run from Phoenix to Homestead, even if it’s just these two tracks. I think Homestead is a special place and I would love to go back there.

“If you have three, do you need more than three on that circuit? If you had championships like Las Vegas, Phoenix, Homestead, you’d go to those places every three years… Again, I’m in Las Vegas right now. . Speedway.” I want to see the championship race. “It’s a great city to host a championship race in.”Historically, Homestead-Miami Speedway hosted the season-ending race from 2002 until it was replaced by Phoenix in 2020. Harvick said Homestead-Miami has a different atmosphere than what Phoenix offers.“I’m not saying anything about Phoenix. I think Phoenix did a really good job. I think Homestead has always thought that way… Homestead was different from Phoenix, and Phoenix seems to have a different vibe than Homestead. “They both have good points.”

By changing the location of the championship, NASCAR can avoid alienating fans in certain areas like Phoenix or Homestead. That’s because Harvick has said he will also appear in the 2025 Indy 500. As previously reported by Newsweek Sports, he said on his podcast:“When you look at the Indy 500 and everything that comes with it, it’s an open-wheel experience that we hope to experience this year.
