Denny Hamlin said on Sunday that FedEx has sold its No. 11 Toyota Camry is no longer sponsoring Joe Gibbs Racing.
Hamlin has been a FedEx sponsor since its NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2005, making it NASCAR’s longest-running partnership. A “Thank you, FedEx” video was posted on Hamlin’s Instagram account an hour before the Nascar Cup Series championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal previously reported that FedEx is investing in Nascar as it cuts its sponsorship from 30 races a year to 13 races in 2024, including the season finale in Phoenix.
FedEx began discontinuing the NASCAR schedule starting in 2021. There were between 32 and 36 races per year, and the number has gone up to 30. In 2023, he was the main sponsor of Hamlin’s #11 car in the event, where he scored just 12 points.
Joe Gibbs Racing did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
Hamlin is one of Nascar’s most successful drivers, having raced for Joe Gibbs for the past 20 years. He has 54 Cup wins, 13th all-time.
