Horses to Beat in the Thousand Guineas and Sir Rupert Clarke of Caulfield

Victoria’s final Group 1 race of 2024 is at Caulfield on Saturday.

The One Thousand Guineas (1600m) for three-year-old fillies is worth $1.5 million and the Sir Rupert Clark Stakes (1400m) is worth $1 million.

In recent years, Jolistar, Madame Pommery, Araylau, Odium and Fleet have all won the Thousand Guineas. Magic Time, Callsign Mav, Sierra Sue and Behemoth are Rupert Clarke’s most recent winners.

See below which horses can beat you:

Thousand guineas

There is no denying that Chris Waller’s Aeliana was an impressive winner at the Carbine Club in Flemington on Derby day.

James Macdonald, chasing three thousand guineas in succession, is up a mile away. It’s definitely a workhorse.

We produce a mix of competition horses and Thousand Guineas horses that have been on the market for some time.

Godolphin’s Zeitung was slightly wrong and should be respected as a threat. Especially after winning Vanity two weeks ago.

Lovelycut is capable and has double figures after finishing fourth behind Zeitung at Flemington.

Exceptions are dangerous in any circumstances. I think there will be a little less on the market after it goes through the gate.

Add Matisse when playing exotic figures.

Selections

2 – Aeliana 4 – Zeitung 10 – Lovelycut 9 – Supercilious 7 – Matisse

Rupert Clarke

It’s hard to look past Ciaron Maher’s three runners.

Another Wil pulled away brilliantly for Jamie Ca at Wall 5 and won after paying tribute to Damien Oliver.

Saturday’s line-up looks good again and looks like a workhorse.

Jimmysstar is a clear threat.

In Another Will, it’s useful for adding a bit of weight, but Gate 1 is a bit tricky and requires Damien Lane’s Peach.

If all goes according to plan, Southport Tycoon can give his beloved colleague a blouse.

The two-time Group 1 winner will need some luck, but if he is lucky, he can win. Take everything with you.

War Machine looks like it can do even better after its good performance at Golden Eagle.

Selections

4 – Another Wil 7 – Jimmysstar 1 – Southport Tycoon 15 – War Machine
