Lions wide receiver Allen Robinson has barely played this season with just one 2-yard catch. However, Lions coach Dan Campbell expects Robinson to play a role in the offense at some point this season.
Robinson, 31, was a Pro Bowler, led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2015 and earned nearly $100 million during his NFL career. But Campbell said Robinson is hungrier than ever while playing for the veterans this season.
“He’s a different person, He really is.” Campbell said of Robinson. “He has the hunger of a rookie. For a guy who plays the way he plays and has skin on this wall and makes a lot of money and has a lot of product, he’s ready to go. He is ready to go when needed. Can play any position. He’s as professional as a professional can be. So I have no problem with him playing. So it’s very important that he’s ready and whatever happens before the end of this season and help us win. It’s going to happen.”
Robinson doesn’t have to play for money anymore, and he’s no stranger to serving as a backup quarterback after spending the last decade as an NFL starter. But he’s working harder than ever, which makes him Campbell’s type.
