A runaway racehorse escaped from a track in Scotland and was filmed cantering down the street in a nearby town.
Rufio unseated his rider during the last race of the Virgin Bet Christmas Jumper Raceday in Musselburgh at 3.15pm on Monday.
The 10-year-old gelding then managed to flee the course before gallivanting into nearby Prestonpans, about eight miles east of Edinburgh.
Footage shared on social media shows Rufio charging past houses and cars, still wearing the No 7 saddle and blinkers.
A Musselburgh racecourse spokesman said the horse was returned “unscathed” after a “short journey”.
“A horse unseated its rider in the last race and made its way out of the racecourse,” the spokesman said.
“This is an extremely rare occurrence and fortunately the horse was returned unscathed to the racecourse by our ground staff after its short journey towards Prestonpans.”
