The Dallas Cowboys secured a road victory at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, October 6, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-17. Heading into Week 6 with a 3-2 record, they’ll face the Detroit Lions next. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott delivered a strong performance, particularly in the final moments of the game.
With only 20 seconds remaining, Prescott connected with wide receiver Jalen Tolbert for a 70-yard drive, culminating in a game-winning touchdown.
Prescott’s impressive play drew attention from NFL fans, analysts, and even former players like two-time Super Bowl-winning Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Ex-Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger Praises Dak Prescott
Despite his retirement, Roethlisberger remains active in the NFL world through his “Footbahlin” podcast, where he keeps a close eye on the Steelers. After their loss to the Cowboys, he shared his thoughts on Prescott’s clutch performance.
Though Prescott has yet to win a Super Bowl, Roethlisberger’s praise could provide encouragement. On his October 7 podcast, Roethlisberger commended Prescott for stepping up when it mattered most.
“He led two crucial drives when it counted,” Roethlisberger remarked. “That’s why you pay a guy to win games. I didn’t even recognize some of the linemen that stepped up after injuries, but that’s what you expect. A good quarterback elevates players around him, and Dak did that well.”
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin Also Impressed by Prescott
Roethlisberger wasn’t the only one recognizing Prescott’s efforts. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also praised the Cowboys quarterback, acknowledging his impressive play in the post-game and subsequent press conferences.
Tomlin highlighted some of the Steelers’ mistakes but took time to give credit to Prescott.
“Some of it was just excellent playmaking,” Tomlin said on October 8. “Dak threw a great pass to KaVontae Turpin down the middle, and it was an immediate hit, but that shows Dak’s talent. He’s a skilled player, and while I reflect on our errors, it’s important to acknowledge the abilities of the competition.”
In his postgame comments, Tomlin further complimented Prescott’s veteran presence and ability to excel in critical moments.
“When you face a good team and a player like Dak Prescott, it often comes down to tight games,” Tomlin said. “If he’s the one holding the ball last, you’re at risk of losing—and that’s essentially what happened.”
