The New York Giants have finalized their Week 7 roster moves ahead of their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants will only make one roster adjustment for Week 7, according to ESPN NYG beat reporter Jordan Raanan, who shared the news on October 19.
“[Outside linebacker] Tomon Fox is the Giants’ only elevation for Sunday vs. Eagles, per source,” Raanan reported. He added that while Fox “could see some defensive snaps with Kayvon Thibodeaux out, it’s more likely a special teams move.”
This decision was anticipated, with both Raanan and The Athletic’s Dan Duggan forecasting that Fox would be the sole practice squad call-up for Week 7.
Duggan also emphasized that this promotion isn’t linked to the status of star pass rusher Brian Burns. Like Raanan, he attributed Fox’s elevation to his strength on special teams, adding that he offers more in that role compared to fellow backup OLB Boogie Basham.
Pro Football Focus reported that Fox played 19 special teams snaps when elevated in Week 2, though his overall grade was lower, as PFF cited him for a missed tackle and assigned him a 47.9 out of 100.
Giants Set to Share RB Duties Between Devin Singletary & Tyrone Tracy in Week 7 Following Week 6, questions arose about whether rookie Tyrone Tracy had overtaken veteran Devin Singletary for the lead running back position while the latter recovered from an injury.
On October 18, SNY contributor John Flanigan confirmed that Tracy is “expected to receive significant playing time” in the Eagles matchup, despite Singletary returning to action.
“Tracy has earned more playing time moving forward,” Flanigan noted, highlighting his impressive performance in Singletary’s absence. Over the past two games, Tracy has received back-to-back Rookie of the Week nominations, totaling 237 yards from scrimmage, breaking six tackles, catching 11 of 13 passes, and scoring his first career touchdown.
Flanigan also quoted head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who acknowledged Tracy’s strong contributions.
“Tyrone [Tracy] has made the most of his opportunities,” Kafka said on October 17. “He’s done well in the passing game, screens, and the run game. We’re going to keep building on that.”
While the Giants have typically relied on a clear RB1 this season, Week 7 could see a shift toward a 50/50 split at the position.
Giants Beat Reporter Predicts Victory Over Eagles
The Giants have won just one of their last six meetings with the Eagles, including the NFC Divisional Round loss in January 2023.
However, Dan Duggan predicted an upset victory for Big Blue in Week 7. “Giants 24, Eagles 20,” the beat writer predicted in an October 18 article.
“I might have jumped the gun last Sunday afternoon when I tweeted that the Giants would beat the Eagles after seeing Philadelphia struggle against a weak Cleveland Browns team,” Duggan explained. “The [Andrew] Thomas injury gives me pause, but the Eagles also lost their star left tackle.”
“The Eagles are 4-7 since Week 13 of last season,” he added. “They have flaws, so I’ll stick with my prediction that the Giants can pull off the upset.”
