Following the terrible Martinsville incident, Denny Hamlin requests that NASCAR take disciplinary action

With a commanding victory in Sunday’s Cup Series race, Hamlin recorded his first victory of 2025 and his first at Martinsville Speedway in ten years. But he was thinking about Saturday’s Xfinity Series event after the race. Although Taylor Gray and Hamlin were first and second at the time, Sammy Smith chose to purposefully wreck Gray deep into overtime, causing the US Marine Corps 250 to conclude in mayhem the night before Hamlin’s victory. As a result, both drivers were eliminated from the race, and the impact of their accident had a cascading effect that included devastation. Hamlin criticised the Saturday night finish on social media, calling out the ‘idiots’ while also urging NASCAR to take action a day later.

NASCAR action is demanded by Denny Hamlin. “Yeah, certainly I think the sanctioning body needs to get involved a little bit and step in on egregious things,” Hamlin responded when asked about his tweets about the finish. “I believe it has been getting worse. We have witnessed such things. Before, only green-white-checkereds experienced it. “Those guys did it yesterday with 50 to go, absolutely just creaming each other,” the speaker said, adding that it appeared like people would go crazy inside this place with 20 to go. Most of the people out there were just terrible drivers. Simply said, that doesn’t look good.

Hamlin went one step farther and demanded that NASCAR use the black flag. “Certainly you shouldn’t be able to just wipe someone out egregiously like what happened at the end of the race yesterday,” he said. “There is undoubtedly a reason why we have a black flag. I believe we ought to put it to use.
