This Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson and Hendrick Motorsports will attempt to honor a cherished teammate. The death of Jon Edwards, Hendrick Motorsports’ director of racing communications, was made public this week. His age was 53. Upon hearing this news earlier this week, Edwards was commended by numerous NASCAR reporters and fans for “treating everyone like they were gold.” In response to this devastating news, Hendrick Motorsports issued a statement. The squad had nothing but positive things to say about Edwards, as you might anticipate. “It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Jon Edwards, our longtime friend, teammate and director of racing communications,” said Hendrick Motorsports. “

A recognized figure in our sport, Jon was a model professional with a unique talent for creating enduring relationships. It is impossible to overestimate his influence on Hendrick Motorsports, the NASCAR community, and innumerable other people. Above all, Jon was a thoughtful and caring individual who genuinely cared about our organization, our industry, and his numerous friends and teammates. We are sending our condolences to Jon’s family and everyone else who is experiencing this terrible loss. He will be sorely missed. Larson posted some of his own ideas on social media. He expressed his gratitude to Edwards for consistently making him laugh. Larson said, “A sad day for everyone close to Jon,” on social media. “I will always cherish the memories we created together and the laughs we shared along the way.”

He had a profound effect on my life and will be sorely missed. Jon’s family and loved ones are in my prayers and thoughts. If we were to guess, Larson would most likely be thrilled to help Edwards win this weekend. As of right now, Larson is ranked fourth in the Cup Series rankings. On March 23, he took home the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race at Bristol this Sunday will start on FS1 at 3 p.m. ET.
