Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife has disclosed that she had referred to her husband as “Ralph” during their marriage. The two were joined in marriage in 2016, following the motorsports legend’s retirement from full-time racing. The son of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion of the same name, who decided to give up driving in 2017, has begun a family, balanced racing on and off, and developed a career in broadcasting. This summer, he will join the new Amazon Prime Video team. Regarding plans for Dale’s late father’s land, Theresa, his stepmother, has recently come under fire. The 50-year-old and his spouse have now provided fans with a glimpse into their close relationship, even letting slip the name that Amy has for her long-term love. Speaking on their “Bless Your Hardt” podcast, she divulged that she has been calling her partner “Ralph” for the duration of their romance – his legal first name but one that is rarely if ever used by anyone else.
“She can’t call you by the nickname your buddies use,” the former NASCAR driver said when he first brought up the topic of his unexpected nickname. Amy said, “Like I’m not gonna call Dale Junebug,” before adding, “She needs to take you more seriously than that.” It’s not sexy. Then Dale said: “No, I was called Ralph by Amy. Amy responded humorously, “To be fair, the only reason I did that is because he didn’t hear me say Dale Jr. No one calls me Ralph.” I caught Ralph’s attention, so that’s how it began. He was like, “What?” when I originally mentioned that. In her earlier remarks, Amy discussed her experience with the legendary motorsports figure of her standing among fans, claiming that there was an overriding perception that she had “conquered the elusive Dale Jr.”. She told Us Weekly: “I grew up in south Texas, I didn’t grow up around racing.
Adding, “There’s a certain amount of negativity that comes with being in that position,” she offered a startling insight into how her husband’s supporters treated her. She also said that she suffers with the spotlight in an interview with her partner, Dale, on their podcast, “Bless Your Hardt.” She said, “I’m not really one to seek out extra attention.” “Being in a relationship with Dale, there just is a certain amount of that, just because.” It’s amusing when you sit in the studio and we are the only two of us conversing. I believe you occasionally lose sight of the audience size or the show’s reach.
“I don’t really enjoy the extra attention,” she continued. I’m going to develop the ability to adjust to it. However, I didn’t want it.” Dale later remarked, “Doing the show is so much fun because this is really the first glimpse into who [Amy] is,” expressing his pride in his wife’s ability to adapt to life in the spotlight. Additionally, it’s a side of me that others are unaware of. They get to witness our back and forth and realize that the connection is truly amazing and that we are just normal. For Amy and our daughters, I’m really pleased of the work I’ve done and the person I’ve grown into. I’m really pleased with our marriage. It’s enjoyable to let people see that a little bit.
