NASCAR’s Championship race will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway in 202, after a seven-year sabbatical. Busch was the last driver to win the Championship race at Homestead-Miami in 2019, before the Cup Series moved its final race to Phoenix the following year. Busch and Keselowski appeared in a two-minute ‘Back to the Future’ parody that aired immediately following Busch’s 2019 triumph. When asked what he wanted to know in the future by Keselowski, Busch replied, “I would like to know if the championship comes back to Homestead-Miami.”

‘Homestead-Miami 2016.’ is displayed on a newspaper held by Busch as the imaginative film comes to a close. Among the few other gags in the sketch is Keselowski’s incredulous remark, “Joey Logano has three championships?” The senior vice president of NASCAR acknowledged to The Athletic that he is pleased with the choice. “We discussed it for a long time, but we thought this was the right time and opportunity to do it,” he said. With Guillermo [Santa Cruz] leading the way, we have a fantastic new president down there. The track has hosted some incredible races, so this was a wonderful chance for us to make a huge impression.

Homestead-Miami’s track president, Santa Cruz, was thrilled. He declared, “We’re restoring the championship and doing the right thing for the right reasons.” And we’re speaking with everyone. But more than anything else, it was about doing what was right for the sport and the fans. We are pleased that we are acting morally, but we still have a plan to engage with our community, local government, and obtain some funding.

NASCAR will switch to a rotating arrangement for its Championship race after Homestead-Miami in 2026. Kennedy claims that from a “promotion” standpoint, this adjustment will benefit the sport. Logano will undoubtedly be impacted by the shift on the competitive front because he won back-to-back games at Phoenix in the Championship Four in his previous two visits.
