With five of the previous ten renewals, including with Soul Sister and Emily Upjohn, Gosden has dominated the day one feature in recent years. Go Go Boots is ready to run on grass for the first time at the Knavesmire after recording both of her victories on the all-weather course at Lingfield. With Kieran Shoemark jocked up at the six-day stage, it will be intriguing to watch who rides the Night of Thunder filly. Aidan O’Brien has two contenders for York in Ecstatic and Whirl. Snowfall, who won this race last, went on to win the Oaks with a resounding victory at Epsom the following month. With Revoir, Smoken, and Tattycoram to pick from, Ralph Beckett has even more options. The entries are completed by Ed Walker’s Miss Tonnerre, Andrew Balding’s Serenity Prayer and Karl Burke’s Serving With Style.

With Elite Status, Night Raider, and Marshman all registered for the six-furlong event, Burke is also expected to have a strong showing in the Group 2 1895 Duke of York Clipper Stakes. Kevin Ryan, a horse that runs in the same Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum yellow and black silks as Elite Status, is also represented by Inisherin. Andrew Balding could run Flora Of Bermuda, Eve Johnson Houghton has joined Rage Of Bamby, and Clive Cox could be double-handed with Kerdos and Jasour. The final of the nine entries is Royal Zabeel, who is owned by the Horse Watchers and trained by Mick Appleby.
