BREAKING: Dallas Cowboys Signed bolster, Commanders’ Legend with 6 Sacks and 139 Tackles

The Dallas Cowboys, after placing a defensive lineman on injured reserve, have bolstered their roster by signing a player from the Washington Commanders’ practice squad.

Dallas Cowboys Place Jordan Phillips on IR

The Cowboys announced that defensive tackle Jordan Phillips has been placed on injured reserve due to a wrist injury. Phillips, acquired in a trade from the Giants in August, made one tackle in the Cowboys’ Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Phillips will be eligible to return on October 27, when the Cowboys face the San Francisco 49ers.

Cowboys Add Carlos Watkins from Commanders

In a corresponding move, the Cowboys signed Carlos Watkins from the Commanders’ practice squad. Watkins, familiar to Cowboys fans, played for Dallas in 2021 and 2022, including a standout 2021 season with 32 tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Now 30, Watkins has played in eight NFL seasons, starting in 37 of his 72 games. He has totaled six sacks, 139 tackles, and one forced fumble during his career. Watkins was originally a fourth-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2017.
