Mark Martin has selected Lanie Buice as his driver to watch after applauding her for candidly discussing a string of mistakes she made on the track in a post-race interview. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was also impressed. Buice, who made her debut in the ARCA series on Saturday, is still moving up the ranks. Her squad, Rev Racing, participates in the recently rebranded Driver Development Program. Buice struggled to maintain her pace and finished in eighth place, even though she had spent most of the race in the top five. Buice spoke candidly about her achievement in a post-race interview, stating: “It was unbelievable, and I’m so grateful to the Rev Racing team for the chance to be a part of it, and to get my debut under my belt, it’s incredible and I’m just super thankful for it and all their hard work, it’s been a great weekend.”

Buice acknowledged that, although she was happy, she could still do better in several areas. Buice contacted Tyler Reif in one instance, and she accepted full responsibility. She stated: “To be honest, I made a mistake. I’m still learning and trying to understand these automobiles as fast as I can. After everything has calmed down, I will most certainly go down there and apologize. He’s vying for the series and the points, and I made a mistake that undoubtedly cost him a strong finish. I’ll use what I’ve learned and improve.” Fans and other drivers responded favorably to the remarks, with Martin observing on X (previously Twitter): “It takes courage and is uncommon to admit when you make mistakes.”

Additionally pleased, former NASCAR driver Lee Pulliam wrote: “She’s the genuine deal! Her attitude also motivates everyone to put in more effort for her. Buice’s next appearance is scheduled for May 9 at the Kansas Speedway. “I’ve learned a lot from today, and I’m eager to start the next few weeks,” she stated. I will also be racing with the Rev team in Kansas. “Big jump to this track and another big jump to Kansas!”
