In response to his recent second-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway, Kyle Larson stated that he got “close” but that he is eager for the upcoming race at Texas Motor Speedway. The legendary Talladega Superspeedway, a circuit renowned for its unpredictable and fast-paced racing, is one of the superspeedways where the Hendrick Motorsports driver has historically struggled. Larson finished second in the most recent race at Talladega Superspeedway, which was both his best-ever performance at the track and his best Superspeedway finish. He broke the NASCAR Cup Series all-time record for the most stage wins after starting in 25th place and winning Stage 1. He achieved his 67th stage victory, surpassing Martin Truex Jr., who has won 66 stages. The star of HMS finished second in stage 2 and collected the most points of any driver in the race with 52 points.

His team also achieved a historic feat with this performance, as it enabled HMS to put all of its drivers in the top ten for the first time in 14 years. After winning important stage points and escaping the largest crash in Talladega history, Larson finished in fourth place last year. “So close… On to Texas” was the comment Kyle Larson wrote as he posted photos from his race at Talladega on X (previously Twitter). With 358 points from ten races, Kyle Larson is now in second place in the championship standings, only behind William Byron of Hendrick Motorsports.

He has already won twice at Bristol and Homestead-Miami, demonstrating his supremacy on short and intermediate courses. Larson has also had seven top ten and six top five finishes, with an average starting position of 12.6 and a finish average of 12.3. The native of California has had a great start to the season and will be looking to improve on it in order to compete in the postseason.

Kyle Larson describes the thrilling Talladega Cup Series race as all jammed up

After finishing third on the track and moving up to second after Ryan Preece was disqualified, Kyle Larson reflected on a stressful and action-packed Talladega Cup race.

I could’ve done on the final lap,” in his post-race interview, explaining that he was packed in throughout the last laps and had no space to make a significant run for the victory [via PRN on X]. “I was just second row inside and was gonna do everything I could to advance our lane and see if I could get to the outside, but we’re all just pushing equally so it was jammed up.” Austin Cindric won in the end, giving Team Penske their first victory of the year. Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, and William Byron completed the top three finishes.
