Later this month, Larson will try to make history by switching series and competing in the 109th Indianapolis 500, which will be his second attempt to win the renowned event. The 2021 Cup Series champion competed in the race in 2024, starting in fifth place and ending in 18th place. However, he aspires to win the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will try again in 2025. Larson has stated that he wants to compete in the NASCAR All-Star race because of the prize money, but portion of the weekend conflicts with that event. The 31-time Cup Series race champion will miss the second day of qualifying at the Indianapolis 500 if he chooses to participate in the All-Star race on May 18 as well as practice six.

In order to compete in NASCAR’s premier event, Larson has recently stated that he has no problem taking a lower grid position. At the Wurth 400 event, Larson informed reporters, “I think that I would miss the Fast Six and go to the All-Star Race,” “It’s important to race in it, there’s a lot of money on the line, so sure, it would be great to have an opportunity to get the pole, but I’d rather race for a million dollars, I think, and start sixth.” “But, we’ll see, you never really know how it’s going to go, got to make sure our car is even fast enough to worry about that anyways,” Larson added.

Will the Indy 500 be won by Kyle Larson?

It would be a severe damage to Larson’s hopes if he chose to compete in the All-Star race, even though he did not state outright that he would miss the Indianapolis 500 session. He would be able to finish on the same grid as he did at the race the year before, but he wouldn’t be able to secure a historic pole position. Larson has won two races and finished in the top five seven times this year, putting him in second place in the NASCAR Cup standings. At the top of the standings, NASCAR legend Denny Hamlin is not far behind William Byron, who is now leading the field.
