Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders’ farewell letter from Tyler Biadasch: ‘Bittersweet’
The Dallas Cowboys lost center Tyler Biadasz to the NFC East rival Washington Commanders, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think highly of the Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys certainly said more farewells than hellos this offseason, and some words were said louder than others.
Among their losses was center Tyler Biadasz, who went on the open market and went to the Washington Commanders, now led by former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
On Tuesday, he said his final goodbye to Dallas and his fans in a post on his Instagram account. “Leaving the Dallas Cowboys is bittersweet as it marks the end of a great chapter in my football life,” Biadasz wrote.
“Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of being drafted into the NFL, and on April 25, 2020, that dream became a reality.The past four years have been a wonderful journey with many unforgettable moments.
It was an honor to be a part of the team.” Originally a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Biadasz had limited action in 2020, but emerged as the epitome of an average starter for the Cowboys, earning him a spot in Pro Football Focus’ offensive rankings.
He finished 14th, 21st and 21st among starting centers. 13th place respectively. Biadasz has been consistent and durable, providing continuity at the top during his time in Dallas.
He also demonstrated growth in discipline, reducing his penalties from 11 in 2021 to five and three over the next two seasons.
“Although we may not have achieved our ultimate goal of winning a championship, I am very grateful for the success we experienced and the bonds we formed with our coaches and teammates,” he continued. “I would like to especially thank the Jones family for making this all possible.”
Biadasz fills a hole in the middle of the Cowboys’ offensive line, which currently features Brock Hoffman, T.J. Bass and Dakoda Shepley.
In return, many have scoffed at the centers coming to Dallas, including centers considered early-round candidates like Graham Burton, Jackson Powers-Johnson and Zach Frazier.
Jones and the Cowboys are largely through free agency, but there could be a small move if he wants to go elsewhere come draft day.
But the cost of losing Biadasz isn’t just being felt on Dallas’ roster, with the division rival now better and poised to become a bigger threat to the Cowboys twice a year as the rebuild progresses. Looks like it’s done.
In Washington, Biadasz will help take some of the burden off the rookie quarterback’s shoulders with protection. “As I begin my next chapter with the Washington Commanders, I will continue to take the lessons learned and fond memories from my time with the Cowboys with me,” Biadasz concluded.
“While I am excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead, I will always hold a special place in my heart for the Dallas Cowboys and the fans who have supported me along the way. Thank you for everything.”
