‘I really think he’s a mediocre guy’ Micah Parsons is calling on the Cowboys to invest in Tony Pollard after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
The Dallas Cowboys will have some difficult decisions to make this offseason regarding changes to the running back position. After Ezekiel Elliott left, the team asked Tony Pollard to take over. Pollard is set to become an unrestricted free agent this year, and a deal to bring the 26-year-old back to Texas has not yet been finalized. Pollard has over 1,000 rushing yards over the last two seasons and has 18 total touchdowns over that span.
The Memphis native was a key member of a team that went 12-5 for three straight seasons. With Mike McCarthy set to return for a fifth season with the Cowboys, it will be interesting to see if the team invests heavily in retaining its star running back. On a recent episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler and star linebacker Micah Parsons made his views on the running back situation clear.

“By the end of the season Tony Pollard had found his rhythm again. “I really think he’s a bad person,” Parsons said. “I want to give Tony Pollard one more chance.”
Parsons has emerged as one of the leaders of the Cowboys’ defense after the organization selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Penn State star believes the team needs to focus on investing in its defense. “We need another bigger midfielder. And I said we need some nasty inside [linemen] for Super 330,” Parsons said of his conversation with team owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys franchise tagged Pollard in 2023 as a 6’0 running back who earned $10 million last season. After finishing the year with 1,005 yards and six touchdowns, a lot of attention will be on whether Pollard chooses to take the free agency route.
