Jurgen Klopp is ‘in the window’ and ‘demanding’ the Canadian winger for a $44m signing Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing a 44-year-old Serie A defender amid ‘request’ for a Canadian winger.
With Liverpool fans dying to sign (at least) another defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, there are other areas of the Reds squad that could use some work.
Southampton’s Roméo Lavia seems the most immediate target with three offers already received for the 19-year-old Belgian, but Jörg Schmadtke’s work won’t stop there even if the deal goes through.
Liverpool have not only cleaned up their midfield in pre-season, they are scoring regularly and there is a need for a centre-back to bring more depth to this area.
With three weeks and a day left before the transfer date, time is running out.
However, there is no concrete shortlist for defensive reinforcement yet and it is unclear what direction Liverpool will take in this department, assuming something is done in the coming weeks.
Here’s Liverpool.com’s verdict on the transfer gossip around the Reds today, featuring a young striker as well as a household name in gossip columns over the last two or three years.
Daniel Jebbison (Sheffield United)
According to Yorkshire Live, Liverpool made a request for Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison last season and Everton have also been eyeing the 19-year-old.

Jebbison, who is in the final 12 months of his contract, helped propel Sheffield United into the Premier League by playing 19 games last season, scoring twice.
He made two caps for the Canadian senior team.
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool are always looking for young talent around the world and Jebbison is a talented teenager.
But it’s safe to say there are much bigger priorities for the Reds right now.
Perr Schuurs (Turin)
One position that Liverpool absolutely need to strengthen is defensively, where another central defender is a priority.
A left-sided option is being considered, but there is an argument to sign a right-sided option as well.
Former Ajax player Perr Schuurs has previously (including most of this summer) been linked to the Italian site Calciomercato and is now reporting that Liverpool and West Ham are both “at the window” for the player.
The 23-year-old is valued at $44m (£35m/€40m) from Torino and Crystal Palace are said to have already rejected an offer of around three-quarters of that amount from the Serie A side.
Says Liverpool.com: For a while this looked like a deal Liverpool could have done if they wanted to, but the Reds never pulled the trigger and brought in the Dutchman.
