Mr. Brown, a proud resident of Trenton, New Jersey, received the keys to his hometown from Mayor Reed Gusciora on the steps of Trenton City Hall.
Brown was celebrated in the state capital with gold balloons in the shape of his No. 27 jersey and a banner that read, “Congratulations on achieving your dream, Ziair Brownβ¦We are proud of you!”
Before being selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Brown was a star on the Trenton Central High School football and basketball teams and played football at Lackawanna Community College and Penn State University.
“What truly sets Giaile apart is not only his athletic ability, but his unwavering dedication to giving back to this city,” Gusciola said at Brown’s ceremony.
βAlthough he has reached the pinnacle of success, he remains rooted in his hometown, returning every summer to pass on his knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation of TCHS soccer players.β
Brown caught the league’s attention in his first year in the NFL. He appeared in 15 regular season games, recording 35 tackles, four passes defensed, and two interceptions.
With seven starts in total, including Super Bowl V against the Kansas City Chiefs where he intercepted quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brown found his way to the starting spot in San Francisco.
“God has been wonderful in my life and has blessed me with so many things,” Brown said in her acceptance speech.

βItβs crazy to think about that because football was never my main goal or end goal.β I never said, “NFL, this is what I want to do, I have to get there.”
I was obsessed with becoming the best version of myself every day and it just kind of fell into my lap. He could become such a great soccer player. Giving something back to the children and this city is the most important thing to me. β
Congratulations, Mr. Brown, now you can be proud of your hometown!
